Our little scientists devised an experiment to see how ice is made. We placed one cup of water outside, one in the freezer and one we left in the classroom. The cups of water were left overnight and the children excitedly returned the next day to see what had happened.

As part of our 'Homes' topic we went into the forest to make shelters using natural materials that we found in the forest. We discussed what it would be like to live in the forest and how we can make a comfortable home using the materials around us.
Je2's topic this term is Homes. We looked at the story of the 3 little pigs and devised an experiment to test which house could stand up to the 'Huffing and Puffing' of the big bad wolf. Each group made their houses using the materials provided. We struggled to find a Big Bad Wolf to perform the test, but we found a good substitute, a hairdryer! We discovered that the straw house failed the 'Huff and Puff test', but the stick house and the block house were successful. Excellent work Je2!
Topic this term is Woodlands. We are lucky to be surrounded by beautiful woodlands in which we can learn, discover, and imagine. We have been investigating the ecosystem, exploring the enchanting stories inspired by woodlands, and using the forest as a creative influence. The story Hansel and Gretel allowed us to do many things including making trails for our friends to follow, creating our own gingerbread houses, and retelling the story to our friends. ''Woodland fairies and elves week' involved making fairy houses for our 'resident' fairies and elves, creating fairy paintings, designing fairy and elf clothing from natural materials, magical headbands, fairy dancing and story telling!
